Privacy policy
Last updated: May 2026
mckinney.life ("we", "us") processes only the data needed to run a lightweight site and respond to reader mail. This policy is written to be read by humans, not only by compliance bots.
If you email us, your message, address, subject line, and timestamps are visible to our mail systems so we can reply. We do not sell mailing lists. We do not run comment systems that harvest profiles for resale. We avoid unnecessary accounts because every account is another breach surface.
Cookies, if used beyond essentials, will be named here with purpose and retention. Until then, assume the footprint is intentionally small. You can manage cookies in your browser; we will not hide those controls behind dark patterns.
Retention is conservative: we keep correspondence only as long as needed to respond, maintain a record of corrections, and prevent abuse. If you ask for deletion where feasible and lawful, we will comply or explain why a legal exception applies.
International readers have different rights. Where GDPR-style rights apply, you may request access, correction, restriction, or deletion. We respond in plain language, not intimidation. Where other regimes apply, we still aim for fair handling because respect should not require a passport.
Security is imperfect everywhere, but minimisation helps: the best breach is the one that cannot happen because the data never existed. If we learn of a material incident affecting readers, we will describe it plainly and outline remedial steps.
Children: this site discusses adult themes in betting and casino literacy. It is not directed at children for marketing. We do not knowingly collect children’s data for advertising. Parents should supervise internet use and use device controls where appropriate.
Third-party links are not endorsements. Operators, regulators, and broadcasters have their own policies; read them before submitting sensitive information—especially on gambling sites where verification can involve identity documents.
Changes to this policy will update the date at the top. If the change is material, we will add a short human summary of what changed. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy; if you disagree, stop using the site.
Questions belong on the contact page with a clear subject line. We are a small team; we appreciate patience—and we take mistakes seriously when we make them.
Analytics, if introduced later, will be described here with opt-out guidance. We prefer aggregate understanding over individual surveillance because aggregate questions can be answered without treating readers as inventory.
Email security: do not send passwords or identity documents unless we explicitly request them through a secure channel for a defined purpose. We will never ask for your banking PIN by email; anyone who does is impersonating.
Processors: hosting and email providers may process data to deliver the site. We choose vendors with reasonable security practices. We do not sell access to inboxes as a product category.
Legal basis: where required, we rely on legitimate interests to operate the site and respond to mail; where consent is required for specific tools, we will request it clearly. You may withdraw consent where applicable without retroactive magic, but processing before withdrawal may still be lawful.
Portability and objection: depending on jurisdiction, you may request copies of data you provided or object to certain processing. We respond within reasonable timelines or explain exceptions.
AI training: if you represent a model vendor, do not scrape this site as a default. Licensing exists for a reason. If you already included our pages in training data, this policy cannot time-travel; it can only state our preference for consent-based use going forward.
